Shinjuku Halal Food 2026: 9 Spots From Ramen to Kebab

Shinjuku Halal Food 2026: 9 Spots From Ramen to Kebab

Shinjuku halal food in 2026: 9 spots near the station, from a kebab counter under ¥999 to A5 wagyu ramen at Shinjuku-tei. Hours, prices and prayer spaces.

Introduction

Halal food in Shinjuku runs from a kebab counter where Tabelog puts the budget under ¥999 per person to A5 wagyu ramen at ¥4,500 (plus tax), and five of the nine spots below are within about 10 minutes' walk of Shinjuku Station. Others are in Nishi-Shinjuku and in Okubo and Shin-Okubo, one stop away on JR, around Hyakunincho 2-chome.

We picked 9 spots and checked each against Tabelog, Halal Food in Japan and the official site where one loads in October 2026, dropping places that have closed (CoCo Ichibanya Halal in Kabukicho and Siddique Shinjuku Nishiguchi are both marked closed on Tabelog). One thing to know before you go: none of these restaurants names a certifying body. We label each place by what its own site or listing says (halal, or Muslim-friendly) and say when no certifying body is named, so ask staff about ingredients and alcohol when you order.

1. Gyumon Shinjuku Kabukicho (牛門 新宿 歌舞伎町店) — Wagyu ramen, 5 min from the station, open until 23:00

This is one of two Shinjuku shops run by the Gyumon group, which serves halal A5 wagyu ramen and gyukatsu. It sits on the 2F of a building in Kabukicho, the nightlife district, so it is a useful option for a late halal meal. The shop is open until 23:00.

The group says all its ingredients, seasonings and cooking methods are halal, with guidance from halal authorities, but it names no certifying body. Treat it as halal per the restaurant (no certifying body named) and ask staff if you have specific concerns. Drinks on the menu are soft drinks only.

Prices for this branch are not published; at the Shibuya shops, 2026 Tabelog reviews show ramen from ¥2,560 and the Spicy All Toppings Wagyu Ramen (Shoulder) at ¥3,740. For all branches see our Gyumon guide.

2. Gyumon Shinjuku East Exit (牛門 新宿東口店) — Wagyu and vegan ramen, 3 min from the station

The second Gyumon shop is on the 9F of the Peace Building near Shinjuku-sanchome, about 3 minutes on foot from Shinjuku Station by the official count. Its draw for mixed groups is the menu: it serves wagyu ramen and gyukatsu as well as vegan ramen, so a vegan friend can order ramen too. Our vegan ramen in Shinjuku guide covers the vegan side in more detail.

It is a small shop with only 16 seats, so it is best for small groups. The halal wording is the same as the Kabukicho branch: Muslim-friendly, with a group halal statement that names no certifying body. Prices for this branch are not published; it uses the same group menu as the Kabukicho shop.

The opening hours conflict between sources: the official site says 12:00–23:30, while Tabelog shows 17:00–23:00. Check the official page on the day, especially if you want a lunch visit.

3. Shinjuku-tei (ハラル和牛ラーメン 新宿亭 新宿店) — A5 wagyu ramen from ¥4,500, with a prayer room

Shinjuku-tei is the best-known halal ramen name in the area, in unit B103 of Ecle Shinjuku near Shinjuku-sanchome. It opened in 2024 and serves A5 wagyu ramen in shoyu, miso or spicy red versions, plus a chicken paitan ramen that is the cheaper way in. See also our halal ramen in Tokyo guide and halal wagyu guide.

On the official price list (plus tax), A5 wagyu ramen costs ¥4,500, the Premium Ramen Set ¥6,000, and chicken paitan ramen ¥1,500 (S), ¥2,000 (M) or ¥2,500 (L). The official page lists a prayer room and online "Fast Pass" reservations. Halal Food in Japan lists the restaurant as having no pork and no alcohol. The restaurant is Muslim-friendly, and the official site names no certifying body (the group says it works with outside halal organisations). It is run by a different company from Gyumon.

It closes at 21:00, earlier than the Gyumon shops, and may close early if it sells out.

What to order

  • A5 wagyu ramen (shoyu, miso or spicy red), ¥4,500 plus tax
  • Chicken paitan ramen, from ¥1,500 plus tax

  • Reservation: Online "Fast Pass" reservation via the official page
  • English menu: Yes
  • Halal status: Muslim-friendly; no certifying body named on the official site. Prayer room available (official)
  • Source: Shinjuku-tei official page

4. Kebab ye (ケバブ家 新宿3丁目本店) — Budget under ¥999 per person, no alcohol, closed Tuesday

Kebab ye is the grab-and-go pick: a small counter about 2 minutes from Shinjuku-sanchome Station where Tabelog puts the budget under ¥999 per person. The official site describes it as fully halal with no alcoholic drinks served and no haram ingredients such as alcohol, so this is halal per the restaurant (no certifying body named).

It has only 10 seats and takes walk-ins, so it works best as a quick lunch or a light dinner. Payment is cash only per Tabelog. Halal Food in Japan lists a prayer room.

5. Bosphorus Hasan (トルコ料理ボスボラスハサン 新宿店) — Turkish lunch sets from ¥1,200

Bosphorus Hasan has run in Shinjuku since 2009 and its official site states that the restaurant is halal and all its food is halal, with meat slaughtered according to Islamic law. We therefore describe it as halal per the restaurant (no certifying body named). The restaurant does serve alcohol (wine and raki), so choose it if that is fine for your group.

The lunch menu is the reason to go: sets at ¥1,200 cover chicken doner, Iskender chicken kebab, meze, pide (Turkish pizza) and a daily special, and a special kebab lunch set is ¥2,400 (official lunch page). Tabelog lists a dinner budget of ¥2,000-¥2,999.

What to order

  • Iskender kebab
  • Pide or the meze platter

  • Source: Bosphorus Hasan official site

6. Uskudar (ウスキュダル) — Turkish meze and kebab, 2 min from Shinjuku Station East Exit

Uskudar is a Turkish restaurant on the 2F of the Komiya Building, about 2 minutes from the East and South exits of JR Shinjuku Station, and an alternative to Bosphorus Hasan.

The halal evidence here is thinner than at the other Turkish places. A Halal Food in Japan listing verified in April 2026 says "Halal Menu", a second listing calls it halal without naming a body, and the official site uskudar.jp no longer loaded when we checked on October 9, 2026. We list it as Muslim-friendly, not as halal throughout, and the restaurant serves wine and cocktails, so phone ahead to ask which dishes are halal.

Tabelog gives a lunch budget of ¥1,000-¥1,999 and a dinner budget of ¥2,000-¥2,999. It is cash only.

What to order

  • Mixed kebab platter
  • Beyti kebab
  • Meze platter

Practical info

  • Location: 2F Komiya Bldg, 3-35-1 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo

  • English menu: Yes (Halal Food in Japan)
  • Halal status: Muslim-friendly; no certifying body confirmed; serves wine and cocktails
  • Source: Uskudar on Tabelog

7. Takuan Botantei (たくあん・牡丹亭) — Japanese beef with a Muslim menu in Nishi-Shinjuku

Takuan Botantei is a Japanese beef restaurant in Nishi-Shinjuku Park Heights, serving sukiyaki, shabu-shabu and stone-grilled steak, with a Muslim menu on top. Tabelog says the Muslim menu uses halal beef, with no alcohol, no pork and halal seasonings, and that a Muslim cook is on staff. No certifying body is stated, so this is Muslim-friendly, not a fully halal restaurant: Halal Gourmet Japan labels it "Muslim-Friendly", with halal meat, seasoning and meal.

The restaurant itself serves sake, shochu, wine and cocktails. "Alcohol-free" refers to the Muslim menu only.

Prices for the Muslim menu are not published. Tabelog gives a dinner budget of ¥8,000-¥9,999 and lunch of ¥1,000-¥1,999, and its regular courses run from ¥7,205 to ¥12,100 with tax.

What to order

  • Reservation: Tabelog online or phone 03-5354-3071; ask for the Muslim menu when booking
  • English menu: Yes (Tabelog)
  • Halal status: Muslim-friendly (Muslim menu only); no certifying body stated; the restaurant serves alcohol

Insider tip

Ask for the Muslim menu when you book by phone or on Tabelog, not when you sit down. Muslim menu prices are not published, so confirm them by phone.

8. MB Halal Wagyu Ramen (ハラル和牛ラーメン 大久保) — Rendang and wagyu ramen, 1 min from JR Okubo

MB Halal Wagyu Ramen sits on the 1F to 3F of the DEAR Okubo building, about 1 minute from JR Okubo Station, and mixes Indonesian and Malay dishes with wagyu ramen. It is the Indonesian and Malay pick here, and the beef rendang with rice is the nearest thing to a curry-style meal we could verify.

Tabelog's store text says it is run by Muslims with Muslim cooks, and Halal Food in Japan lists it as no pork, no alcohol and prayer room, with no certifying body named. We list it as Muslim-friendly. It opened on April 29, 2025. Tabelog budget bands are ¥1,000-¥1,999 for lunch and ¥2,000-¥2,999 for dinner.

9. Salam Xiao Wei Yang Shin-Okubo (サラム小尾羊 新大久保) — Halal hot pot and lamb skewers

Salam Xiao Wei Yang adds variety beyond ramen and kebab: a Chinese and Mongolian-style medicinal hot pot (yakuzen) with a choice of nine soups, plus lamb skewers and a halal meat pie. It is on the 1F of the Joyo Dai-1 Building, 3 minutes from JR Shin-Okubo and the North Exit of JR Okubo.

The shop's own Tabelog text says all its meat is halal. No certifying body is named, so we list it as Muslim-friendly. Be aware that it runs a full bar (sake, shochu, wine and cocktails). Tabelog gives a lunch budget of ¥1,000-¥1,999 and a dinner budget of ¥3,000-¥3,999.
