Gyumon is a halal wagyu group: a Shibuya yakiniku flagship (karubi ¥1,100) plus ramen in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa. 2026 prices, booking, halal facts.
Introduction
Gyumon is a Tokyo halal wagyu group with two very different sides: a yakiniku (grill-it-yourself) flagship at 3-14-5 Shibuya, where karubi is ¥1,100 a plate on the Hitosara menu, and a chain of halal wagyu ramen shops in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa, Ueno, Ginza and Ikebukuro, where 2026 Tabelog reviews show bowls from ¥2,560 to ¥3,740. Both come from the same group (official site: gyumon-group.com), but they are different restaurants with different rules. The yakiniku place serves alcohol and takes online bookings. The ramen shops list only soft drinks and are mostly walk-in.
We checked the official site and Tabelog on October 9, 2026, and give no queue times because no source publishes any. On halal, the short answer is in Gyumon halal status: what is verified: the group says it follows halal guidelines with input from certification authorities, but its official site names no certifying body.

All branches: full list below.
The yakiniku flagship (3-14-5 Shibuya)
This is the original Gyumon. You grill A5 halal wagyu yourself over binchotan charcoal in a converted old wooden house. The group says it uses A5-grade halal wagyu with BMS 12, and Hitosara describes thin-sliced sirloin seared briefly in a yaki-shabu style. The flagship has 45 seats, table seating plus zashiki (Hitosara), and is non-smoking.

Menu and prices
The official site does not list current course prices that we could find, and Tabelog shows no courses. The a la carte prices below come from Hitosara's menu page (tax included), so treat them as a guide and check the English menu on the day.
| Dish | Price |
|---|---|
| Tan (beef tongue) | ¥1,080 |
| Jo-tan (premium tongue) | ¥2,130 |
| Karubi (short rib) | ¥1,100 |
| Jo-karubi (premium short rib) | ¥2,420 |
| Harami (skirt) | ¥920 |
| Jo-harami (premium skirt) | ¥1,740 |
How much you spend depends on how premium you go. Tabelog's shop-set dinner budget is ¥3,000-¥3,999 and its reviewers average ¥2,000-¥2,999. Hitosara's average is ¥6,500 and TableCheck shows ¥7,000. Order premium cuts and a few sides and you will land at the higher figures. A lunch set menu exists (Tabelog), but its prices are not published.
Booking: TableCheck versus Tabelog
The two sources contradict each other, so here are both. Tabelog still says no reservations. The shop's TableCheck page (tablecheck.com/en/gyumon-yakiniku-shibuya) offers online booking, and its booking form was working on October 9, 2026. The TableCheck rules:
- Seat-only booking (you reserve a table, not a menu).
- Parties of 9 or more must phone 03-5469-2911.
- If you do not show up or contact the shop within 15 minutes of the booking time, the booking may be cancelled.
- The cancellation fee is 100% within 24 hours of the booking time.
Book only if your plans are firm, because of that 24-hour rule.
Alcohol and menu
Alcohol is served here (beer, highball and makgeolli per Hitosara; wine and sake per TableCheck), and Tabelog confirms an English menu, so pick a ramen shop if you want to avoid alcohol.
Practical info
- Location: 3-14-5 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0002
- Nearest station: Shibuya Station. The official site says 5 min on foot, Tabelog says 8 min (5 min from the New South Exit, 602 m), and Hitosara says about 10 min along Meiji-dori toward Ebisu. Tabelog's landmark is 'behind JRA WINS Shibuya', which is due to close at the end of 2026 for rebuilding (Time Out Tokyo, 2026), so use Google Maps rather than the landmark.
- Hours: 12:00-23:00 daily (official site and Tabelog). Hitosara lists dinner only, 17:00-23:00 (last order 22:30), so confirm lunch before you go.
- Closed: Open every day (Tabelog)
- Reservation: TableCheck online (seat-only, 100% cancellation fee within 24 hours); Tabelog says no reservations

Insider tip
The flagship is not the only yakiniku room. Gyumon Hanare (Shibuya 2nd) is a few doors away and is listed in the table of other branches below; it is a useful fallback if the flagship is full.
Gyumon Ramen: menu and prices
Gyumon's ramen shops are the walk-in side of the group. The official site lists the menu but no prices, so the 2026 prices below come from Tabelog reviews only, all tax included.
| Dish | Price | Shop and date (Tabelog review) |
|---|---|---|
| Giant Crispy Karaage Ramen | ¥2,560 | Center-gai shop, June 2026. The reviewer called it the cheapest item on the menu |
| Spicy All Toppings Wagyu Ramen (Shoulder) | ¥3,740 | Gyumon Ramen Shibuya, August 2026 |
| A5 Wagyu Ramen & Gyukatsu Set (Shoulder) | ¥6,020 | Gyumon Ramen Shibuya, August 2026 |
The Shibuya reviewer spent ¥4,000-¥5,999 per person in 2026. Several reviewers describe the crowd as almost entirely overseas visitors and the pricing as 'inbound pricing', so expect a tourist-level bill rather than a local ramen-shop one. Branch prices can differ, and the group has not published a price list, so check the English menu at the door.
What is on the menu
From the official menu list (Ramen Shibuya page):
- Wagyu ramen: White (rich, creamy beef-bone broth) or Spicy (the shop's own spicy miso), in plain, Egg & Nori or All Toppings versions, with shoulder or sirloin. The noodles are homemade, chewy, medium-thick and curly.
- Sets and gyukatsu: A5 Wagyu Ramen & Gyukatsu Set, Tempura Set, A5 Wagyu Gyudon Set, and Wagyu Gyukatsu as a single or in 100 g, 150 g and 200 g sets.
- Sides: Chef Kazuya's Signature Gyoza and Giant Crispy Karaage (also as a ramen topping).
- Toppings: A5 shoulder or sirloin, soft-boiled egg, melted cheese, nori, extra noodles.
- Vegan: White Vegan Ramen, Spicy Vegan Ramen, Vegan Ramen & Tempura Set and Vegan Tempura Rice Bowl. The official menu lists these at every Gyumon ramen shop. If you are strict about preparation, ask staff about the broth and shared equipment.

Wanderlog reviewers mention a prayer room 'for one person' at Center-gai, but that is a secondary source only.

Gyumon Asakusa (6-12-5 Asakusa)
This is the Asakusa shop most people mean when they search 'gyumon halal ramen asakusa': a ramen shop, not a yakiniku branch. Tabelog says it opened on February 20, 2024. It has 30 seats, is non-smoking and welcomes kids. Tabelog's store description calls it a pork-free halal ramen shop, and japan-food.guide says it has a prayer room (secondary source). Visiting Senso-ji? The second Asakusa shop, Kaminarimon, is 2 min from Asakusa Station and is in the table below.

Gyumon halal status: what is verified
Here is what we can verify and what we cannot.
What the group says. The official About page says Gyumon follows Islamic guidelines, has received guidance from halal certification authorities, and that all ingredients, seasonings and cooking methods are halal. We checked gyumon-group.com on October 9, 2026 and found no certifying body named anywhere on it. The Ikebukuro page says its ingredients are prepared in line with Islamic dietary laws.
Third parties. Halal Food in Japan (checked April 2026) leaves the certification field blank, Hitosara says the flagship uses halal ingredients centred on beef, and one Tabelog reviewer says a certificate is displayed in the shop.
The Malaysia Halal Corporation claim. Many pages name the Malaysia Halal Corporation as Gyumon's certifier. We traced that line to a Time Out Tokyo review and best-halal-restaurants list dated April 28, 2017, and sites that copy it. Treat it as historical, not as a current fact.
What to do. If the certifying body matters to you, ask staff which body issued the certificate and to see it. Remember too that the yakiniku flagship and Hitsujimon serve alcohol, while the ramen shops list soft drinks only.
Prayer space. No official shop page mentions one except the Ikebukuro map label ('Halal & Prayer Room'). Secondary sources mention rooms at Asakusa (6-12-5) and Center-gai, so ask staff before you rely on either.
Is it worth it?
It depends on what you are after.
- For halal wagyu yakiniku in Shibuya: Yes, if you want a grill dinner with an English menu and an online booking option. Spend is wide, ¥3,000 to ¥7,000 per person depending on the source, and the premium cuts cost more than the standard ones. Check the 24-hour cancellation rule before you book.
- For ramen: Be realistic. The 2026 Tabelog prices of ¥2,560 to ¥6,020 are high for ramen, and reviewers themselves call the pricing 'inbound pricing'. The appeal is the A5 wagyu, the halal setting, the English menu and the vegan options in one chain, not a bargain bowl. A Tabelog review of the Ginza branch (December 2025) also notes high prices.
- If certainty matters most: The group's halal claim is its own, with no certifying body named on its site. If that is a dealbreaker, ask staff for the certificate first.

FAQ
- Does Gyumon in Shibuya name a halal certifying body?
- The group says all its ingredients, seasonings and cooking methods are halal, with guidance from certification authorities, but the official site names no certifying body. The Malaysia Halal Corporation claim you may see traces back to a Time Out Tokyo review from April 2017 and should be treated as historical. If the certifying body matters, ask staff to show you the certificate.
- Is the Gyumon yakiniku restaurant the same place as Gyumon ramen?
- No. They belong to the same group but are separate restaurants. The yakiniku flagship is at 3-14-5 Shibuya, serves alcohol and takes online bookings. The ramen shops, such as the one at 2-19-17 Shibuya, list soft drinks only and are mostly walk-in.
- How much is Gyumon wagyu ramen?
- The official site lists no prices. In 2026 Tabelog reviews, the Giant Crispy Karaage Ramen was ¥2,560 (Center-gai, June 2026), Spicy All Toppings Wagyu Ramen with shoulder was ¥3,740 and the A5 Wagyu Ramen and Gyukatsu Set was ¥6,020 (Ramen Shibuya, August 2026), all tax included. Prices at other branches may differ.
- Can I book Gyumon in advance?
- The yakiniku flagship takes seat-only bookings on TableCheck, with a 100% cancellation fee within 24 hours and phone booking (03-5469-2911) required for 9 or more people. Tabelog still says no reservations. The Harajuku (Jinnan) ramen shop also has TableCheck booking, and Ikebukuro has a TableCheck page. Other ramen shops are best treated as walk-in.
- Is there a Gyumon in Shinjuku or Asakusa?
- Yes. Shinjuku has a Kabukicho shop (1-17-7 Kabukicho, open 12:00-23:00) and an East Exit shop (3-34-11 Shinjuku). Asakusa has the ramen shop at 6-12-5 Asakusa and a second one near Kaminarimon (1-18-11 Asakusa). All are ramen shops, not yakiniku.
- Does Gyumon have a prayer room?
- Only the Ikebukuro shop is labelled 'Halal & Prayer Room' on its official Google Maps listing. Secondary sources mention a prayer room at the Asakusa shop (6-12-5) and a one-person room at Center-gai, so ask staff before you go. Other official pages do not mention prayer space.
- Does Gyumon have vegan ramen?
- Yes. The official ramen menu list includes White Vegan Ramen, Spicy Vegan Ramen, a Vegan Ramen and Tempura Set and a Vegan Tempura Rice Bowl. The Shinjuku East Exit and Ginza shops are branded for vegan ramen, and a Shibuya Scramble 2nd shop also focuses on it.
- Does Gyumon take cash or cards?
- Every official shop page lists Visa, Master, JCB, AMEX, Diners, transport IC cards, iD, QUICPay and PayPay. Cash is not listed for the yakiniku flagship, Ramen Shibuya, Asakusa (6-12-5) or Ikebukuro, so bring a card.
